Jesus Did NOT Die for You!
He died because of the rejection from the prideful (religious) people of his day.
The display long suffering, forgiveness and love for all people was demonstrated through the event of His crucifixion. The same was replicated among multitudes of believers.
We become less self-centered and more Christ (family, community) oriented when picturing this crucifixion this way.
If out of those extreme forms of punishment still existed for Christians today would you be one of them?

In believing that Jesus died for you one is limiting his/her scope of what happened to Jesus because of people full of PRIDE.
